IS 1239 (Part 1) is an Indian Standard for welded and seamless steel tubes used for water, non-hazardous gas, air, and steam. It applies to tubes with a nominal bore size of 6 mm to 150 mm.

IS 1239 steel tubes can be seamless or welded. Seamless carbon steel IS 1239 YST 240 pipes are made from tested, approved quality steel, which must be fully killed during the manufacturing process.

IS 1239 pipe fittings, including MS IS 1239 Part 2 elbows and GI IS 1239 bends, are used in furnaces for components like piping, burners, fans, doors, and recuperators. They can also endure severe conditions, such as cryogenic temperatures.
